The Montello Foundation Waypoint is located three miles north of Montello, NV on NV 233. For 2023 we featured Elisabeth Condon with Not such a pressing Question depicting a synesthetic landscape conflating location and memory through color, scale, and pattern. Translating the decisive strokes of ink brush painting into swooping or slab-like markings re-envisions landscape as synthetic, torn apart and reassembled as collage. Photo: Stefan Hagen
